Professional Background
With over a decade of nursing experience, I witnessed the intricate interplay between physical health and mental well-being, as well as the unfortunate underutilization of holistic practices in Western medicine.
After becoming frustrated with systemic barriers to achieving true optimal health in our healthcare system—both personally and for my clients—I decided to study further and leave mainstream healthcare to pursue a career more aligned with my personal values and philosophies.
My passion for understanding human behavior led me to pursue an Honours Degree in Psychology, focusing on behavioral psychology, mental health, and addictions. This allowed me to delve deeper into the complexities of the mind.
Alongside my psychological insights, my Honours Degree in Religious Studies provided a unique perspective on the human experience, enriching my understanding of spirituality and culture and their roles in healing, health, and well-being. Unfortunately, it also highlighted how these factors can sometimes contribute to trauma.
Building on this foundation, I integrated my knowledge while pursuing and earning a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences, specializing in women’s health and well-being within sporting culture. This further honed my expertise in health, well-being, culture, and research practices.
My academic journey has been complemented by seven years of dedicated research in health and social sciences, equipping me with a nuanced understanding of the complex factors influencing well-being across the lifespan.
